Sefton Park Palm House

I'm looking for a new landmark building to add to my collection of drawings and resin moulds and favouring Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool, constructed in 1896.

This three-tier dome conservatory palm house was designed and built by MacKenzie and Moncur of Edinburgh and designed in the tradition of Joseph Paxton's glass houses.  In the 1980's it had deteriorated to such a degree that it was closed on the grounds of safety.

Thankfully in 1992, a public meeting was held calling for restoration and the successful "Save the Palm House" campaign was born.
